Week 3

Little Nemo is of the many books that I read in respects to my interest in animation. Winsor McKay’s art is a historical landmark in animation and comics and Little Nemo is definitely no exception. While old, its experimentation at the time was a breakthrough and proved to influence the future of comics and art into today. His use of repetition and a theme was masterfully used and gave the comic a definite feel that helped it feel unique. The colors definitely told a unique emotion from one color them to another and helped push using the framing and shapes of the panels to a more interesting place, then was used before in comics. However, while it was a very interesting breakthrough at the time, it definitely has paled in terms of interest in the eyes of the world today. It was a milestone in an artistic sense, but now days, there are many illustrations and more interesting narratives that help tell a more engaging story.
